Two boys from Norton Radstock ABC attended the first show of 2023 for the club in Weymouth last weekend.

It turned out to be a mixed night of emotions for both of them. Up first was Jayden Walker boxing a rematch against a lad he’d previously beaten from Barum. Both boys boxed well within themselves using their own particular styles.

“Over the three rounds I was confident Jay’s skills and workrate would get him the result, so you can understand my disappointment and anger when the result went against us! I really don’t know what the judges were watching” said Coach Sean Jenkins.

On to Jacob Moon’s bout; this was a perfect match - if you can picture Hagler Hearns, Gatti V Ward and you’ll understand the courage and commitment shown by both boys. Back and forth the bout went, Jacob gave his opponent a standing count then received two counts of his own. Punch for punch, both lads went for the win to end the bout with a standing ovation!

“A close decision to Finn was a fair result could have gone either way. Well done to Jacob and Finn both boys should be proud of themselves” said Coach. “It was good to be back on the road again, shame about Jayden but we win and lose together as a team and we come back stronger next time”.

The club has its own boxing show coming up in the next few weeks. Sunday March 5th at Conygre Hall in Timsbury is the date for your diary, with tickets for sale on the door. Boxing to start 2pm.
