The final league match of the Cotswold League season saw Norton Radstock secure a draw against Bishopsworth at the excellent Easton Leisure Centre on Saturday, 20th April.
In an exciting and closely fought match, there were never more than three points between the two teams, with the final score of 166 points each, being a fair result. Cheddar finished third and Lydney, fourth. Norton Radstock won nineteen of the 52 races and came second in 24 others.
A total of thirteen personal best times were set by swimmers, this included Mary Inns lowering her fifteen-and-under 50m Breaststroke Club Record by nearly 0.4 seconds. Victories were split across all age groups, but, in particular, the eleven-and-under Boys and Girls teams did exceptionally well. The Girls eleven-and-under Freestyle Relay team and the thirteen-and-under Medley Relay team have both gone unbeaten throughout the entire season.
There were individual victories for Hannah Angell, Tom Barrow, Edie and Maisie Gudmunsen, Harriet and Lucas Hawkins, Mary Inns, Zac Keeling, Finley Rogers and Alice Wells. The excellent team spirit showed again as swimmers covered for late withdrawals on the night, including swimmers having to swim up in higher age groups.
The league now splits into three for the final play-off matches, although the full league positions are still to be confirmed. Norton Radstock sit comfortably in the top eight and should therefore be in the 'A' Final at Hutton Moor (Weston-super-Mare) on Saturday, 4th May.
