Within ten minutes of kick-off, Kingswood drove toward Norton’s try and gave everything not knowing they would be met by Teo who held up the attempted try, proving that the boys were up for a fight.

Norton 34 Kingswood 45

Dawid gave good first impressions by placing Norton’s first try shortly before being on hand to set Sam D up for Norton’s second try. Duffy drove hard through the middle of Kingswoods defence where he placed the ball in between the posts ready for Paul G to convert.

With both Sam and Dawid going on to score another try each, Norton went into half time winning 26-19.

Within two minutes on the second half, Harrison broke through and scored his first try. Sam D broke Kingswood’s defence with what the spectators thought was to be another try but was unfortunately disallowed. Norton remained dominant until the final twenty minutes when Kingswood made some lucky breakthrough runs ending up with a final score of 45-34 to Kingswood.

The game had spectators from both teams biting their nails right until the last minute. The match was finished a few minutes early after both captains decided to end the game following a fallen scrum on Norton’s try line leading to Rhys T taking the full weight on his elbow.

Although the final score was not in Norton’s favour, the majority of the play was in Kingswood’s half and Norton’s pack were a credit to coaches Mark and Adam.

Rhys, Sonny and Ollie in the front row could have easily been a young Baggy, Paul Carey and Kev Stevens the way they dominated the scrums, proving that Norton heritage still runs strong through the club.

Nortons U15s are playing home against Cheddar next Sunday, 23rd October. Kick-off is at 11am.
