This week was the turn of Prattens' Ladies under the leadership of new Captain, Chris Love, to get their 2015 season underway with two friendly matches.

Last season, you may recall and I am definitely going to remind you, the Ladies team did very well in both the Fear Cup and Southey Trophy and won the Wild League, so have set themselves a standard to maintain. The games this week were both played as triples. The first, on Tuesday, was played against Bath Ladies and the second, on Thursday, was against Stothert and Pitt. Both games were played in glorious sunshine and resulted in some excellent bowls from all the teams, with Prattens managing to win on two of the three rinks in both games, but losing overall. The final results were Bath, 51, Prattens, 43, and Stothert and Pitt, 56, Prattens, 52. We all hope that the quality of the performances will lead to similar results to last year being achieved.

On Saturday, the club held the first of two open sessions, but, unfortunately, the weather was against us, resulting in only a few non-members visiting our green. For those put off by the weather, or if you just could not make it last Saturday, there will be another session in four weeks' time (23rd May) or if you cannot wait until then, come along to our club evening any Monday, from 6 p.m. onwards. Speaking of our club evening, last Monday's experiment with Australian Pairs was a great success, with twenty members on the green having a go and responding enthusiastically to this and we now plan to continue this game on alternate weeks.
