The Annual Presentation of the Radstock and District Pool League took place recently.

Once again it was held at Westhill Club and the Committee would like to express their thanks to the club for accommodating the evening and for allowing the League to use the venue for the monthly meetings during the season. They would also like to thank Rob Opie for standing in as photographer for the evening and Mardons, Westhill Club, Paulton Rovers and the Purnell Club for staging the various competition finals. Sheila Bull once again provided the buffet for the evening and in excess of 100 guests were entertained by the FB Roadshow disco.

The Division One title was comfortably won for the fifth season running by Westhill Club B, well ahead of runners up Ston Easton. In the second division, history was made when Prattens Club A became the first team in the League’s 36 year history to complete the season unbeaten. This achievement meant they were comfortable winners of the divison with the runners up spot going to the Greyhound. Westhill Club B achieved the double for the third season in succession with victory in the Team Knockout Cup final with a win over their closest rivals in Division One, Ston Easton. For the third year running, the Team Knockout Plate was won by the Railway Inn with victory over Bearberry Rovers in the final. The Singles competition was won by Jessy Cook for the first time in a closely contested final against five time winner, Andy Smith. And, retaining their title, the Pairs competition was won by Anthony Ford and Paul Quick. Tilley Edwards won the Ladies competition with victory over her team mate and previous winner, Kelly Egan. The Under-18s competition final was contested by two players who hadn’t made the final before, with Josh Button coming out on top against Connor Schmid. Geoff Beck, of Prattens Club A, was Player of the year with an impressive record of losing only once in the 28 games he played.
