Her husband, Lodge Secretary, W. Bro Tony, in the interests of maintaining domestic peace and harmony immediately put out an appeal for Lodge members to form a team.

On the evening of Tuesday, 12th July, the Connaught team, many never having played boules before, bravely accepted the challenge.

Once the rules were explained, and teams allocated to the four rinks, battle commenced.

To the surprise of the more experienced Westfield team who play every week, Connaught quickly became adept, and the games continued neck and neck.

After a refreshment break the deciding finals were played, with Westfield winning by a very small margin.

In appreciation of the Westfield Petanque Club hosting the evening, the Lodge gave a £200 donation to their chosen charity, Cancer Research UK. Having had such an enjoyable evening a possible return match is now being considered.
