It was all about Baltonsborough last week in the Mid-Somerset League, as they had to win both their remaining two games to win the Second Division title.
Last Wednesday was their first test, away to Farrington Reserves, played at Tunley, and although being only one goal up at half-time, they scored six goals kicking down the slope and in the end, winning the game 7–0.
Saturday's game at home, played at Butley against Pensford Reserves, could have been a tight affair, but again, they scored seven goals, winning 7–1. The league's Vice-Chairman, Ryan Grubb, and President, Brian Wells, were on hand to present the League Winners Cup and trophies to the players.
Baltonsborough winning the league gave them their fourth trophy of the season – this is only the second time this has been achieved. The last time was by Evercreech 47 years ago.
The season has come to an end and what a great season it has been, with the benefit of the better weather, the league's administrators, Rob Beale (Fixture Secretary), Gary Smart (Registration/Treasurer), League Secretary, Nick Doble, and Referees' Secretary, Dave Stiles, have done a great job.
The league's winners and runners-up were – Premier League Winners: Coleford, Runners-up, Stoke Rovers. First Division Winners: Radstock A, Runners-up, Frome Collegians Reserves. Second Division Winners: Baltonsborough, Runners-up Westhill Sports. Third Division Winners: Victoria (Street), Runners-up, Chew Magna Reserves. Bryn Hawkins
