Paulton Rovers Ladies progressed into the Women’s FA Cup Third Round Qualifying for the first time after a solid 2-0 win in Gloucester against Tuffley Rovers.

The game started evenly on an poor pitch with both teams taking time to settle. However any nerves were soon settled on fourteen minutes when Alex Gwyther brilliantly turned to loop a shot over the keeper and give Paulton the lead.

The hosts lost a couple of players to injury, due to the poor surface, and Paulton doubled their lead on 35 minutes when a great team move was thumped home by the impressive winger Eleri Webber as she broke into the box.

The second half was scrappy in comparison with numerous stoppages for injuries but the Paulton team maintained their concentration to see out the first clean sheet of the season. The visitors also ended strongly with an Adella Clarke goal being ruled out for offside and the team could have grabbed a couple more goals before the referee, who also had a great game, blew the final whistle.
