WELTON Rovers suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat on their visit to Warminster Town in the first division of the Jewson Western Football League , conceding five goals in a punishing first half despite showing flashes of attacking promise.
Warminster opened the scoring inside two minutes when Seb Hounsell exploited space on the right and finished calmly past Calum Heal. Welton responded well, with Chris Pile testing Jack Amor before turning provider in the 20th minute — his powerful strike was parried, allowing Courtney Charles to equalise from close range.
The hosts quickly regained control. Hounsell struck again minutes later, and a defensive error gifted Jack Newman a third. Welton nearly responded through Alex Kieh, whose long-range effort struck the upright, but Warminster pressed on. Hounsell completed his hat-trick with a sharp finish, and Charlie Walton added a fifth with a thunderous 20-yard strike just before halftime.
Welton regrouped after the break and created chances. Will Ford went close from distance, and Ashton Arlow headed wide from a corner. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Lewis Russell fired in a stunning goal to reduce the deficit.
Rueben Hobbs later headed onto the roof of the net, but Welton could not find another breakthrough. Despite their second-half efforts, Welton were unable to overturn the damage done in the first 45 minutes. Warminster’s clinical finishing and early dominance proved decisive.
Following the match, Welton Rovers announced the resignation of first team manager Jamie Harrison, citing increased family and work commitments. With September drawing to a close, the club remains winless in the league. They are bottom of the table with only three points from 11 matches. They now faces the challenge of appointing a new manager to lead them forward.
