The weather gods were on the side of the organisers as the sun shone down on West Clewes. A Welton XI played a Timsbury XI, made up of a number of well-known footballers from years gone by, including Colin Brain, Lee Gould, Rob Lewis, Gary Martin and Paul Lewis, amongst many others. That game ebbed and flowed and fittingly ended in a 3–3 draw. The Ingram family awarded a trophy to the two teams at the end of the game.
As one game ended, so another started, with current Rovers Assistant Manager, Malcolm Beck, gathering together many of his old players (Malcolm was First Team Manager in the 1990s), to play in a match against a Nick Beaverstock XI (the current First Team Manager). The line-up included a number of Welton legends, including Jason Matthews, Shaver Sims, John Carver, Tristan Westlake, Paul Antell, Mark Shields, Ian Dixon, Damian Carpenter and many others. This game ended 2–0, with Paul Mogg opening the scoring with a superb solo goal. The event raised well in excess of £500.
The Welton Rovers FC end of season presentation will be held at West Clewes on Friday, 16th May.
