A large crowd gathered last Friday night at Radstock Town's Football Ground, for the Mid-Somerset Football League's first Cup Final of the season, which saw Westhill Sports against Tunley Reserves.
It was a very even game at 1–1 halfway into the second half, when Tunley were reduced to ten men. This spurred Westhill on to get two further goals to win the Baxter Shield for the second year running. Two cup competitions were played out at Writhlington, with Stoke Rovers and Clutton Reserves winning through to play in the Final of the Clark Cup this Friday, 11th April at Radstock Town's ground, kick-off 7.30 p.m.
The Paulton Hospital Cup saw Mells and Coleford winning through to play in the Final at Paulton Rovers' ground on Good Friday at 10.30 a.m. In the Premier League, both the top teams had wins, Frome Town Sports 4–0 home to Belrose and Pensford 4–1 away to Wells A. Welton Arsenal move into fourth spot with a hard-fought win over Meadow Rangers, 3–2.
In the Second Division, Peasedown Reserves moved eleven points clear at the top from second place, Tunley Reserves, with a good 4–1 win away to Farrington Reserves. The Third Division saw Chew Reserves keep their slight hopes of promotion alive with a 2–0 win over Westhill Sports Reserves. Chilcompton United won well at home to Wells B, 3–1, while Somer Valley move up to sixth place, with an away win against Purnell A, 3–1. The big games this Saturday, 12th April are Frome Town Sports at home to K.O. Cup Semi-Finalists, Welton Arsenal, and top of the league team, Peasedown Reserves,who travel to promotion rivals, Tunley Reserves.
