In the Tony Baxter Shield, Westhill Sports made it eleven wins out of eleven games with an extra time victory over Peasedown Athletic Reserves. With defences on top for the majority of the ninety minutes, chances were few and far between for both sides, although Matt Seviour's driven cross just eluded the outstretched foot of Adam James at the far post for Peasedown.
At the other end, Peasedown keeper, Ashton Tucker, proved his class when tested by the Westhill forwards. Westhill took the lead in the first period of extra time after a Peasedown free kick into their area was cleared upfield for the centre forward to advance on the Peasedown goal before finding the top corner of the net. The same player doubled Westhill's lead soon after from the penalty spot after Peasedown's Jamie Callow was adjudged to have brought down a Westhill player in the box. Peasedown responded immediately when Matt Seviour fired home at the near post after Kevin Allen's effort had been blocked. Peasedown threw more men forward in search of an equaliser, but were caught with a swift counter-attack with only minutes remaining to put the result beyond doubt.
Next Saturday, Peasedown Reserves are in County Cup action with a 1.45 p.m. kick off against Weston-super-Mare outfit, Nailsea United B.
