Over forty junior golfers played in the 2013 Farrington Park Junior Open last Friday in cool and blustery conditions. Participants came from all over the South West to compete in the annual event on the Duchy Course at Farrington Park.

The event was wide open, allowing any number of potential winners. With the wind getting up and with soft ground, conditions made it a strong test from the Duchy Course white competition tees. Farrington's four handicapper, Danny Farnen and five handicapper, Jack Partridge, from Worlebury, came in first with gross 80s to set the early pace. Farnen's score would have been even better had it not been for a ten on the long, par five thirteenth.

It was not until the penultimate group when the 2011 winner, Will Warman, from Bath, came in with a gross 79 to become the Junior Open Champion for the second time in three years. The four handicap Somerset County player said: "I really enjoy coming back to Farrington Park. The course is always in great condition and even though it was a very testing day and I had a bad back nine, I'm really pleased to have won again."

Best nett score of the day was a stunning 65 from Farrington Park's 17 handicap, Miles Hackett. He won by four shots from brothers, Jack and Charlie Cook, who had nett 69s. All three players saw the handicaps reduced as a result.
