A FAMILY-friendly wildlife celebration has been announced for Saturday, July 19, by The Community Farm, a social enterprise in the Chew Valley known for delivering organic food and promoting nature-friendly farming.
Running from 12.30 to 4pm at the farm’s scenic site overlooking Chew Valley Lake, the event promises a fun-filled day of exploration and learning.
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities, including wildlife discovery walks, bug safaris, pond dipping, nature connection sessions, insect-themed crafts, discovery trails, and more. Special guests will also be joining the celebrations, as The Community Farm invites families to come together and celebrate local wildlife.
The on-site roundhouse cafe will be open selling refreshments: local ciders by Chew Valley Cider, The Farm’s very own organic apple juice and seasonal sustenance based around fresh produce from The Farm’s fields, as well as some sweet treats baked by volunteers.
Chris Sperring MBE will be opening the senses to the many sights, sounds, tracks and trials the natural world has to offer as he guides participants on wildlife discovery walks. Chris is a professional naturalist and wildlife guide, and a fountain of nature knowledge!
Also joining the day are Mendips-based ecologists Charlie and Rachel from A Patch Wilder, who will captivate participants with their incredible knowledge of all things wild, specialising in reptiles and bats, you're sure to come away with even more enthusiasm and some excellent facts to impress friends and family.
Jason Leck, course leader of Wild Steps, The Farm’s therapeutic wildlife conversation course, will be guiding some nourishing nature connection sessions that will leave event-goers feeling refreshed with a deeper connection to the world around them.
