A new fraud has come to the area, with people posing as tax collectors offering

residents iTunes gift cards to pay off debts.

Residents are finding text messages and phone calls claiming they owe tax to Inland Revenue, which can be paid off by buying iTunes vouchers and giving the serial numbers to the callers. The police have warned residents that HMRC will never text about a penalty and would never ask for payment in this method.
