Bath will once again have police officers stationed permanently in the City Centre, under a new deal struck by Bath & North East Somerset Conservatives and the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Expansion of the existing police office in the One-Stop Shop on Manvers Street in will mean officers are based there seven days a week.

Currently, the police desk is only open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., five days a week, but under the new plans, the opening hours will be extended from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Mondays to Fridays. The current arrangement was put in place when the former Police Station was sold in 2015.

B&NES Council Leader, Cllr Tim Warren, has negotiated new arrangements with Police and Crime Commissioner, Sue Mountstevens, who has paid credit to both sides who have co-operated to get this action over the line.

Cllr Tim Warren said: “The Cabinet and I are delighted to have secured the return of a police station to Bath, and we thank Sue Mountstevens for working with us on this. We’ve wanted to bring back a local police station into the City, and I am really pleased that we’ve succeeded.

“It is fantastic news that our efforts will mean a bigger police presence back in the centre of Bath. This will reassure all of us who live in and enjoy our city.”
