Up to £2,500 has been allocated by Radstock Town Council to support local police education initiatives following concerns of increased drug use and associated crime in the town and surrounding areas.
It is hoped that by working alongside the police, the money will support community officers dealing with issues such as drug abuse and violent crime, anti-social behaviour and moped safety. Radstock Town Council are hoping to meet with local police to discuss their ideas.
£2,435 of Community Infrastructure Levy money will be allocated to support a Heritage Trail project in Radstock, which will include the provision of information boards in the town, and £1,500 was voted through by the Council to support the town’s first Twinning event, when Radstock will welcome members of Lancon-Provence Council, France, with the French Mayor having the honour of switching on the Town’s Christmas lights on Saturday, 1st December, which will also coincide with Radstock Museum’s Christmas event.
Other activities the Twinning visitors will take part in include a visit to the Bath Christmas Market, an evening reception at the Ammerdown Centre and a tour of Radstock Museum and Downside Abbey.
The Council also voted to allow the Midsomer Norton and District Carnival Association to use the Tom Huyton playpark car park on Monday, 12th November as Carnival comes to town.
The car park will be in use by the Association from 4.30 p.m. that day.
