A BATH and North East Somerset Councillor has quit the council’s ruling Liberal Democrats to become an independent councillor.
Ann Morgan was elected to the council at the 2023 local elections as a Liberal Democrat but has now left the party. Ms Morgan said: “My role as ward councillor for High Littleton, Hallatrow & Farrington Gurney is now independent and not affiliated to any political party.”
Asked why she had left the Liberal Democrats, who dominate the council with two thirds of the seats, Ms Morgan said there were “no specifics.”
Following her departure, the Liberal Democrats have 39 councillors, Labour has seven, the Independent Group five, the Greens and Independents for B&NES three each, and the Conservatives two.
