Midsomer Norton Town Councillors have voted to install a Beacon, potentially at the batch above the Town Park, which will be put in place for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration.

The tasking of the cost and location will now be handed to the Finance and Operations Committee on the Town Council, who will report back. The Town Clerk suggested to Councillors that other organisations locally should be approached to see if they would like to be involved in the celebrations. Readers may remember the ‘Beacon’ made of old furniture lit at the rugby club for the Diamond Jubilee, where a concerned passer-by called the fire brigade!
