The last monthly meeting of 2017 for the Alcan LM Pensioners was our Christmas Party. Members met up for a 12.30 p.m. start, when lots of Christmas cards were being shared.

The buffet was served, and as usual, there was more than enough for everyone. After this, Romany, Shirley and Viv served desserts. Background music was played all afternoon, which gave everyone time to chat. Sally had put quiz sheets out on all the tables for members to complete at their leisure, with a prize for the winners. Sheets were also put out for 2018 monthly meetings and day trips.

2 p.m saw a presentation of a cheque for £900 to Pauline Blacker, a representative from Prostate Cancer. This was the proceeds of the Cabaret, which Keith had organised earlier in the year, in remembrance of Sid Body, who had helped him raise much money over the years.

Phil announced that Keith was retiring as Chairman and the Committee had persuaded him to take on the role of President, which he had agreed to do.

A presentation was then made to Keith for all his hard work over the years, and flowers for Rita for her help. Keith wished Phil good luck in taking over as Chairman. Keith also thanked the Committee and all the members for their support over the past years.

Fruit cake was then handed out and thanks go to Jean Tarrant for making this. The meeting then closed at 3.30 p.m. after the raffle.
