A lovely surprise awaited one of our Alcan LM Pensioners’ Association members, who celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on our latest day out. Joan and Ivor Bridges were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers when we visited the Royal Mint in Llantrisant.
Everyone enjoyed the tour; we have never seen so much money in all our lives! Sad to say, we didn’t get any free samples. Thanks to Sally for organising this trip. We started the excursion by stopping at the Chepstow Garden Centre and then went on to the City of Cardiff. The sun shone and we all enjoyed our day.
At our last monthly meeting we had a visit from the Great Western Ambulance Service. This was very informative and we were surprised by how much money is needed to keep the helicopters working every day. This service is operated purely by donations.
Next month’s meeting sees our old friend, Stuart (Steptoe to his friends) Shepherd, who no doubt will keep us amused with his antics. This will be after our week away at
Warners Alvaston Hall Hotel in Cheshire.
The May meeting will be our Annual General Meeting, and we will need volunteers to join our committee, so anyone interested, please put your name down on the sheet which will be in the clubhouse at the April meeting. Thanks to everyone who supports us on attending the monthly meetings, day trips and short breaks.
