Bath Racecourse wasn't quite what it seemed last weekend – with a pantomime record-breaking attempt taking place during its Festival.
This was the first annual National Operatic and Dramatic Association South West Pantomime Derby. The race was the idea of Graeme Savage, Founder, Artistic and Musical Director of Midsomer Norton-based Merriman Theatre Group.
All the runners were pantomime animals and the race had been recognised as an official Guinness World Record attempt.
The current record stands at 53 and, unfortunately, this was not broken. However, groups travelled from across the south of England and are already looking forward to next year's attempt.
Next year, the race will be held at Bath Racecourse on a Family Fun Day. The group started rehearsals for their Christmas production of 'Joseph', which will be performed at Somervale School on 13th and 14th December. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings at the school. For further details, visit: http://www.merrimantheatre.com">www.merrimantheatre.com
Graeme would like to thank Bath Racecourse for their help in organising the race.
