There’s a fantastic weekend of music ahead at Midsomer Norton, with two special concerts due at the Town Hall.

First up is an exciting concert from Peter Knight’s Gigspanner – one of the country’s most innovative and respected folk/roots acts on Thursday, 3rd November at 8 p.m. Their reputation has burgeoned since legendary fiddle player, Peter Knight, turned his full attention to the trio after his departure from folk pioneers, Steeleye Span.

Unhindered by the limits of technical ability, they take music rooted in the British Isles and with the flick of a bow, a finely chosen chord or slip of a beat, produce hypnotic arrangements layered in global influences, touching on baroque and classical along the way. They dismantle traditional music and reassemble it in an intriguing, imaginative and beautiful way. Their 2015 album, Layers of Ages has featured on several ‘Album of the Year’ listings, including The Telegraph, R2 magazine and BBC Radio.

Following this, Bath Festivals present a special concert from local favourite, Sam Evans, on Saturday, 5th November at 7.30 p.m. Sam is a highly experienced internationally touring musician. Over the last five years, Sam has been performing as a solo musician and with his band, gaining a healthy following in England, Ireland and Romania to name a few. Expect high energy, passion and a love for music that shines through in Sam’s songs. Refreshments at both concerts will be available from the fully licensed Sarah Ann Bar.
