On Monday, 11th December, AGE UK B&NES held their monthly dinner at Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John, but this time fully embracing the spirit of Christmas.
The two-course dinner was attended by twelve OAPs, with members of AGE UK B&NES and Tesco – who also donated all of the food and drinks for the event – volunteering as chefs and waiting staff.
The group were treated to a full Christmas dinner, with tea and soft drinks, followed by a slice of Christmas pudding, and unanimous praise was given to the kitchen staff for preparation and presentation of the feast.
Members of AGE UK B&NES have extended their thanks to Tesco’s volunteer staff. A spokesperson for the charity said: “The Tesco staff have all been brilliant, and had even taken care of all the washing up! We want to thank them for their help and donations.”
Michelle Tarrant, Activities Co-ordinator for AGE UK B&NES, said: “We put on all sorts of activities for older people, including walking activities, Tai Chi, and listening and befriending services, and we have day centres with arrangeable transport in Midsomer Norton, Bath and Keynsham.
“We are always looking for new volunteers and clients, and our activities are open for anyone to join.”
