Work has now begun on an exciting new skate park for the Recreation Ground in Peasedown St John.
Maverick Industries Ltd were the company selected to build the park as a result of the tendering process and a public consultation was held last year. The Parish Council were delighted when planning for the scheme was granted last month and the scheme was able to go ahead.
Maverick have a good track record locally, having installed the hugely-popular Somer Valley Skate Park and they will be helping the Parish Council to establish a 'Skate Ranger' scheme, which has proved very successful in Midsomer Norton.
If work goes according to plan, the skate park will be completed in time for the school summer holidays.
"We are really pleased that the waiting is now over and we will soon have this fantastic new park," said Parish Councillor, Jo Davis. "We hope that young people with skating experience, who might be interested in becoming a volunteer Skate Ranger, will get in touch with the Parish Office."
