FESTIVE cheer was in the air as children from across the constituency came together to hear who had won the MP’s Christmas card competition.

The top 10 designs earned their creators an invitation to a hot chocolate reception hosted by Anna Sabine, MP for Frome and East Somerset, at the Cheese and Grain in Frome.

The annual event brought together children from across the constituency whose artwork was selected by Ms Sabine.

This year’s theme was ‘A Wild West Country Christmas’ and the festive cards reflecting the children’s creativity and community spirit. The winning design was used as Ms Sabine’s official Christmas card and was created by Daria Strango from Selwood School.

Over hot chocolates and festive treats, Anna had the chance to congratulate the winners in person, chat with them about their artwork, and thank them for taking part. Families were also invited to attend, making it a relaxed and celebratory morning for everyone involved.

Speaking after the event, Ms Sabine said: “It was a real pleasure to meet the winners of this year’s Christmas Card Competition and thank them for the fantastic artwork they produced. The creativity and thought that went into their designs was brilliant, and it felt really special to celebrate that together over hot chocolate at such a great local venue.”

Ms Sabine added her thanks to the Cheese and Grain team for hosting the event which saw winners from schools across Frome and East Somerset enjoy some Christmas food and receive their certificate from the MP.

The Christmas Card Competition is held annually and is open to children across the constituency, giving young people the opportunity to showcase their creativity while helping to spread festive cheer throughout the local area.

Ms Sabine added: “Look out for the theme next year and get involved.”
