Local artists, Emma Cox and Joseph Poole, who run the art website, www.alexandersworld.co.uk have successfully raised over £1,000 for
Secret World Wildlife Rescue, following a visit there to meet some of its furry inhabitants.
The pair, whose art is mostly inspired by wildlife, have been running online auctions with generous donations from both local businesses and national companies, such as Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Yankee Candle YJ, Frome-based Bramble and Wild, Sophie’s Nail and Beauty Lounge, based in Radstock and many more.
Emma and Joseph are planning a sponsored walk of 100–150 miles along the UK coastline starting on 9th November, to help them reach their target, as well as holding an exhibition of their art in Timsbury later this year.
Emma said: “When we visited Secret World Wildlife Rescue, we were shocked and completely amazed at the work each and every volunteer and worker puts in at Secret World Wildlife Rescue, they provide around the clock care to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife that would not survive otherwise. These people are like no other people we had ever met, they were kind, patient and had no limits to what they would do to save these helpless animals.
“I took a visit to Secret World Wildlife Rescue to photograph for our upcoming exhibition and had the breathtaking opportunity to get up close and personal with the owls, foxes, hedgehogs and other wildlife. There are no words to explain how it feels to be so close to these animals, who have been through so much, but are still willing to show us humans love and affection. The highlight of my visit to Secret World Wildlife Centre was feeding a cheeky little fox, named Mia, some tasty treats – this was the exact moment I knew I had to help this charity.”
Emma continued: “We are walking 100–150 miles for the charity and to show our gratitude for the kind donors who have made our fundraising so plain sailing. We are also holding a table top sale on November 7th at Timsbury Congregational Church, with all proceeds going to the
charity. The local church has also been so kind as to lend us their fantastic building yet again on November 20th for an exhibition evening of our artwork, some of which comes from Secret World Wildlife Rescue, too.”
Anyone is welcome to attend the Art Exhibition at Timsbury Congregational Church on November 20th from 6.30 p.m. – 9 p.m. The exhibit will have free entry, but donations are welcome for the rescue centre. To find out more or to donate, visit: www.justgiving.com/emmaalexanderart
