Delayed from the middle of the summer heatwave, the annual Centenary match v Worlebury took place.

This time the Teams were left with wet and windy conditions. However as always the match was played in good spirits and ended in an honourable half at 4-4. Winners for Mendip were Tony Scott/Mark Necker, Tony Taylor/Peter Rumming and Anita Butcher/Elaine P Richardson with a halves coming from Steve Davis/John Ellis and Allison Rumming/Anne Collins. So Mendip, as holders retain the Trophy for another year. Nearest the Pin went to Jack Hayes with John Ellis 2nd and Kevin Carmody 3rd.

Despite wet weather, a good field of 76 competed in the 4 man Turkey Trot Team Bowmaker. Winning after count back with a net 57 were Keith Beasley/Selwyn Rees/Shaun Rich/Ken Webster, leaving Chris Butland/Scott Butland/T J Butland/Stephen Pugh in 2nd place, and Robert Cook/Jack Hayes/Philip Leadbeater/Julian Redpathy 3rd with 58 after count back.

The Ladies held a 4 person 9-hole bowmaker which saw a win for Dee Garnsworth/Allison Rumming/Elaine P Richardson/Karen Cookson with 38 points followed by Sue Alcock/Kay O’Connor, Chris Olds/Elaine Masters in 2nd place with 35 points.

The Seniors Captain Steve Davis reported that the series of 39 Seniors matches had now been completed with 22 wins, 3 halves and 14 defeats. More importantly 56 Seniors had played for Mendip this season. 96 Seniors played in the 4 person Bowmaker event played on behalf of the Royal British Legion. The winners were Ian Hall, Alan Kay, David Jukes and Tony Scott with 83 points. Philip Cookson, Simon Wynn, Jim Boyd and David Judge were 2nd with 80 points and Paul Reakes, Anthony Logan, Simon Grant and Chris White were 3rd after count back with 79.
