Plans for the Town Park will feature prominently as Midsomer Norton Town Council prepares for its seventh Annual Town Meeting on Monday, 23rd April.
This year, the Annual Town Meeting will receive a brief report on the Town Council’s activities for 2017-18, before the community are invited to contribute their thoughts and ideas for the project.
The meeting will take place in the Town Hall Assembly Room from 7 p.m., and it is hoped that many members of the community will come along and take this important opportunity to have their say in the plans for the Park, which is aimed at providing a facility not only for the town but for the surrounding areas. Separate sessions being arranged to discuss the project with Midsomer Norton’s neighbouring Town and Parish Councils.
Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Cllr Paul Myers, said: “We have been working hard with Bath and North East Somerset Council on this key project. We’ve identified funding to draw on from developer contributions to fund the first stages of the project. However, in order to ensure that the Park meets the needs of local people, we are looking to gather input from residents of all ages in and around the town and neighbouring elected Councils.”
The plan also takes into account the diverse ecology of the land, its suitability for various uses and the needs of a range of potential users and groups. The heritage of the site will also influence the final design, which will also seek to connect communities by linking with existing footpaths and cycle routes.
The meeting is open to everyone, so come along and share your views.
