Parish Councils are being warned to be extra vigilant after the defibrillator at Westfield was reported stolen this week. There had been reports of two stolen in Bath recently, with a warning sent out by police – only for Westfield to discover their defibrillator missing at some point after its last weekly check on 23rd February.
The fact that this is the third defibrillator to go
missing in the area has led police to believe that this is a more organised attempt to steal medical equipment. There was no damage to the case, so the offender has
either tried the security code until it opened, or dialled 999 to access the code from an operator. The latest defibrillator, installed in Peasedown St John by the Somer Valley Rotary Club, cost around £2,600, including the casing in which it is housed. At the moment, there are five in the area. Anyone with any information or who sees anything should contact the police.
