On Saturday, 12th May, Jeff Mountjoy’s Big Ride Out, a charity motorcycle ride-out event, was held at Paulton Rovers, attracting 235 bikes and a good crowd of spectators.
Known as ‘JMBRO’, the ride raised funds for Dorothy House and The Freewheelers Blood Bikes. This year, JMBRO have raised over £4,000, making a total of over £26,500 since they started fundraising activities.
Des Loader, one of the event’s organisers, said: “Our friend, Jeff Mountjoy, who sadly passed away in 2015, wanted to raise money for Dorothy House after he was diagnosed with cancer, so we started with a series of Motown nights and fellow friend, Rich Francis, started organising the ride-outs.
“We now solely concentrate on the motorcycle events, and as such, we have added the Freewheelers Blood Bikes to our charity list. We will also be running a ride for the Alzheimer’s Society later in the summer.”
One member of the public who was in attendance on the day was Fabida Farr, known to friends as Faf, who will be eighty in September. Faf, who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, expressed her wish to ride out with JMBRO on a motorbike, and her wish was granted by kind-hearted biker, Malcolm Pearce.
