The Bishop of Bath and Wells, the most senior member of the Anglican Clergy in our area, visited Peasedown St John last week.

The Rt Revd Michael Beasley spent two days meeting local leaders, civic groups and faith representatives to learn more about the challenges that the community faces.

Revd Matthew Street, the leader of Anglican Churches in Peasedown, Wellow and Shoscombe, said: “We’re delighted that Revd Beasley spent time in our communities. He made himself available to talk to parishioners and members of the public. He was able to see, first hand, the work the Churches are doing in the community and what difference we’re making in the lives of those we support.

“This was the first time in thirteen years that the Bishop of Bath and Wells had visited our villages, so we were pleased to have him with us.”

The Rt Revd Michael Beasley has served in the role of Bishop since 2022.

He received media attention recently following the important role he played in HM The King’s Coronation last year – as ‘Bishop Assistant to the King’ he supported His Majesty throughout the ceremony with the dressing and undressing of garments.

“We were particularly pleased to show Revd Beasley our new Bubble Church initiative in Peasedown St John,” said Matthew, “Bubble Church is a Sunday Church service especially for babies, toddlers, and young families. It’s a packed, 30-minute kids and families get-together that has proven to be very successful since we launched it last year.”

The Bishop also spoke at the morning service at St John’s Church last Sunday and visited The Hive Community Centre to meet staff and volunteers.
