There were more entries at the Chilcompton Society Flower Show this year with all classes benefitting and despite a downpour, very good attendance in the afternoon.

Rosemary Blatchford won the vegetable section and was overall show winner. Flower, cookery and hobbies cups were won by Sheila Box, Pat Steer and Margaret Dera, respectively. The Newcomers’ cup was awarded to Joy Bowen; Debbie Slater took the Arthur Hambly Award with her watercolour, and Ben Reynolds was the Men’s Cookery winner. The Gardening Club prize went to Marlene Pickford for a perfect bloom and Josie and Bert Boxall gained the Family Cup. Children’s classes were keenly contested, Jodie Brown being the overall winner.

This was a very successful show thanks to the organiser, committee members and helpers. David Rogers commented that support from villagers was great, making it all worthwhile.
