Metro Mayor Dan Norris said a big thank you to hard working posties last Wednesday at Patchway Delivery Office, as he heard first-hand about this year’s Christmas delivery operation and showed his gratitude to postal staff for all their hard work throughout the year.

On this red letter day Mr Norris gave a big Christmas card and the best wishes of the people of the West of England to postie, Dayley Lawrence.

The last date for Christmas delivery for 2nd class mail was Saturday 18 December and today, Tuesday, 21st December for 1st class.

Last year, Patchway Delivery Office processed twenty and a half million items – and so far in 2021 the eighty staff have processed nearly fifteen million items. They estimate they will process another six and a half million items in December alone.

Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “It was great to meet the first-class team at Patchway Delivery Office at their busiest time of the year. Come rain, shine, snow or gale force winds they’re out delivering parcels, presents and Christmas cards. Our posties are such an important part of Christmas – they definitely get my stamp of approval.

“They’ve also told me that the last date to post first class before Christmas is Tuesday, 21st December. Which means that I’ve got to get a move on and finish writing my Christmas cards!”
