NatWest, in Midsomer Norton, held a charity day to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West last Wednesday, 5th August.

The NatWest banking group’s mortgage channel have joined forces across the nation to help raise money for various charities by travelling between John O’Groats to Land’s End. Staff from each region have joined in the exercise, which must get participants to their goal using only human power.

Some branches have resorted to using dinghies, as well as bikes, while staff from Midsomer Norton, who are raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, joined with colleagues from across Wales and the South West to trek their part of the route.

Each region is aiming to raise £5,000 towards their charity and at the moment, the South West and Wales region has amassed £3,420.

To help raise the total, staff at the Midsomer Norton branch held a charity day for the Children’s Hospice South West, selling cakes made by cashier, Jill, as well as challenging each other to ride 100 miles on an exercise bike by the end of the working day.

Ranjeet Jones, Branch Manager at Midsomer Norton, said: “Children’s Hospice South West is a local charity that is close to our hearts and one that we’re very passionate about. We have customers that have used the hospice and it’s nice for us to be able to support them and the work that they do.”

NatWest are also continuing charity work with Dorothy House, which is their chosen Community Charity of the Year. Staff at Midsomer Norton held a similar charity day for the hospice in May and have plans to run another next month, as well as other fundraising activities and general support for the charity.

The Children’s Hospice South West charity day raised an extra £124.09 towards the £5,000 total for the region. Staff at the bank managed to break their target of 100 miles, reaching 125 by closing.

Emma Robbins, Local CEO of NatWest, said: “A massive thank you to our customers for their support and donations along the way.”
