Creators of a broad spectrum of arts and crafts were represented at the diverse annual show at Conygre Hall, Timsbury: watercolour artists, acrylic artists, textile printers, potters, felters, glass workers, jewellers, calligraphers, and more.
Visitor, Maggie, said the exhibition was “inspiring”, and that it made her want to start drawing. Mandy, another visitor, said the display was “Enlightening and uplifting. Thank you to Jane for the marvellous workshop.”
An unusual art form was presented by Anna Hurwitz, who sculpts interesting items with treated vegetables combined with other materials – such as aubergine shoes!
A number of the craftsmen demonstrated their creative talents, and visitors were able to try these skills out for free, including: Sgraffito – a technique used by Jo Eddleston to create her amazing glass work, mixed media using textiles and stitch with Jane Woodman, Calligraphy with Lucy Empson and Copper Cutting, and Stamping with Sophie Piddock. Thanks to Timsbury Parish Council for their sponsorship of these taster sessions.
Karen George, the Group Chair, said: “We have had a large number of very positive comments from our visitors about the exceptionally high quality of the work on display and the range of talents represented within our group.”
Our November Arts Trail, on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd, will include some free workshops and demonstrations in various arts and crafts, suchas drop spinning, acrylic painting, lino print cutting and calligraphy.
Visit the group’s webpage: www.camvalleyartstrail.co.uk for more information. Registration for the autumn trail opens Saturday, 1st June for interested artists and crafters who produce their own original work.
