Well done to our readers who guessed correctly the Mystery Photograph from last week!
The picture was showing Cholwell and Clutton Rectory, Temple Cloud. Those who had the right answer were Beverly Bodely, Catherine Josham, Simon Ball, Diane Western, Nick Bohan, Elaine Bowen, Graham Sage, Mike Flower, John Sage, Martin Horler, Brian Flower, Carol Curtis, Norma Attwood, Carolyn Holder and Debbie Beacham.
Thanks everyone, for getting in touch!
Journal reader, Mike Flower, tells us: “Your mystery photo is of the A37 at Cholwell, between Temple Cloud and Clutton, looking towards Clutton with Clutton Old Rectory on the hill to the right.
“The cottages to the left are now in a large lay-by left after re-alignment of the road c1960. The entrance to Cholwell House, once built for the Rees-Mogg family, is just beyond those cottages.
“The original image may have been taken by Miss Lottie Collinson, a professional photographer, who had a studio in Temple Cloud about 120 years ago, but could be earlier.”
So, think you can identify this week’s photograph, above? (With thanks to Susan Spear, for bringing it in). Answer in next week’s Journal. Email: [email protected] with your answer and even a photograph of what the scene looks like today, or send it to us via Facebook: @MNRJournal.
Editor: Thanks to Bath Record Office and Radstock Museum, we are hoping to continue weekly with these photographs. However, if any readers have any to share, please do get in touch.
