Not the easiest Mystery Photo last week, but this week’s picture should be more familiar! For those of you unable to guess, last week we were in Smallcombe Road, Clandown.
Well done to Paul Hancock, Ivor Davis, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Jean Edwards, Rodney Gullick, Karen Thayer, Jonathan Griffin and Karen Barresi.
Jonathan Griffin tells us: “This week’s photo was taken in Clandown, somewhere near the junction of Fosseway and Smallcombe Road. I’m indebted to Colin Button for suggesting Clandown, and to Google Maps Street View for the precise location, so I’m willing to donate half of my points for this week to Colin to increase his chances of winning a share of the ginormous prize you’ll be awarding at the end of the year!”
Unfortunately, Jonathan, knowledge is the only prize available here!
Karen Thayer, who provided the photo to the right, adds: “All the terraced houses on the right were demolished in the late 1950s, including the pub, The Dirty Duck, and rebuilt higher up, allowing the road to be widened.”
Thanks again to everyone who got in touch.
If you think you know the location of the photograph (top), supplied by Radstock Museum, and would like a mention next week, email: [email protected] or via Facebook or Twitter @MNR Journal. You can even send us a photograph of how it looks today.
A very big thank you to Radstock Museum, who continue to support this feature in partnership with The Journal.
