This wonderful photograph of Midsomer Norton South station post-closure, recently came to light (thank you to Bath in Time). The station is partially dismantled, and a work detail of students, supervised by their teacher, is helping to clear the platform. The involvement of the students, and the fact that both the track and the Silver Street bridge are still in place, suggests that the picture was probably taken in 1968/9 (the bridge was demolished in November 1969) – but you may know better!
Always keen to bring the history of the station alive, the Trust would love to make contact with the young students in the photograph and bring them together again to recreate the photograph on the same platform, now restored to its former glory. We can supply the brooms and the barrows, all we need are the people!!
If you recognise yourself, or know anyone who appears in the photograph, then Chairman, Steven Lacey, would love to hear from you. Please drop him an email at chairman
