We had a great response to last week’s Mystery Photograph of Shoscombe School.

Once again, thank you to Somerset Coalfield Life for supplying the photograph. Well done to the following people who guessed Shoscombe School correctly: Jeff Parsons and Dan Bates.

Many thanks to Ian Beeho who said: “I actually attended Shoscombe School during the war. More recently, Men’s Shed, which I am part of, have made benches for the school.”

Vince Gill wrote in to say: “St Julian’s Church, Shoscombe, was also a Junior School where I went to from five to eleven years old.

“Mr Bending was Headmaster and Mrs Symes taught the smaller children. It brings back memories.”

Thank you also to Valerie Rogers who said: “This weeks Mystery Photograph is of Shoscombe Church School, my old school.

“I think it was around 1931 and my dad Stan Nineham should be on the photo but can’t really recognise him, he would have been about 9-years-old. The head teacher of the school was Mr Bending. and Mr White was another teacher.”

There is a lot going on in this week’s Mystery Photograph, sent in by Grant Johnson, but can you guess where it was taken?

Please email: [email protected] or call: 01761 258030 with your answers. Good luck!
