Well done to all of those who guessed correctly the photograph from Bath Record Office which featured in last week’s Journal. We will be publishing a different photo each week of old photographic postcards uncovered by the Record Office, who found these in a scrapbook compiled by Richard Boodle. Can you guess this week’s?

Last week’s photograph was taken of Radstock Road, Midsomer Norton (right). Well done to Steven Horler, Lucy Edwards, Jeff Parsons, Shirley Steel and Beth Selway, who all guessed correctly. Honorary Alderwoman, Shirley Steel BEM tells us: “I was born in number 15, the last but one on the left. Next door, number 16, was the policeman’s house. My mother was also born in number 15 in 1907. There was almost fifty shops and businesses in this road and you could buy everything you needed.

“The shop with a white side on the right was a music shop selling sheet music, pianos and guitars. To the right of the lady in black was a post office and general stores.

So, think you can identify this week’s photograph? Answer in next week’s Journal. Email: [email protected] with your answer and even a photograph of what the scene looks like today, or send it to us via Facebook: @MNRJournal.

Such has been the popularity of this feature – we have been amazed by the amount of family debate and pub arguments that these have caused, that we would love to have a supply that we can call upon when these run out.

If you have any you can share with us, please do let us know and we can carry on! Images need to be high resolution and supplied as a .jpg file.
