If you are worried that after the big day there will be Christmas trees littering the streets like tumbleweed whilst you wait for B&NES Council to collect them; well, fear not – for you can now book a charity Christmas Tree Collection in January in aid of Dorothy House.
The Hospice is launching its third annual Christmas Tree Collection fundraiser in partnership with the Just Helping charity. Last year, the Christmas Tree Collection picked up one thousand trees in nine postcodes, and doubled the funds raised previously to over £13,000.
This year, the charity is offering Christmas tree collections in BA1 and BA2 in Bath & North East Somerset, and BA11, BA12, BA13, BA14, BA15, SN12 and SN13 in Somerset and Wiltshire.
Dorothy House supporters and volunteers will collect pre-booked Christmas trees in exchange for an online charitable donation between Friday, 11th and Sunday, 13th January in the BA1 and BA2 area, Frome, Westbury, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Corsham, Warminster and Melksham.
Dorothy House are offering a limited capacity collection, which relies on volunteers and local businesses. If you would like to support the hospice by providing a vehicle or offering your time as a volunteer, please contact: [email protected]
To take part, visit: www.charityxmastreecollection.com, type in your postcode to check that your area is covered, make a donation and list where your tree will be located. All trees must be pre-booked online, ready for collection from 8 a.m. on Friday, 11th January, and clearly marked ‘Dorothy House’. Trees can be collected from businesses, schools, churches and homes.
Verity Clark, Community Fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice Care said: “This is our third Christmas tree collection and we are looking forward to helping local people recycle their used Christmas trees, whilst also raising vital funds for Dorothy House. A big thank you to all our volunteers and our supporters for their generous help, and thanks also to Bath & North East Somerset Council for the use of their recycling centre.”
Councillor Bob Goodman, Cabinet Member for Development and Neighbourhoods at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “We are delighted to support Dorothy House by recycling the trees they collect at our recycling centre. The Hospice provides essential end-of-life care in the local community, and we wish them well with their charitable collection scheme.
“Our recycling team will also be offering a free Christmas tree collection in Bath from 28th January, when our garden waste collection re-starts.”
