A CARE home in Midsomer Norton has been nominated for an LABC Building Excellence Award in the Best Non-Residential New Build category.

Operated by Oyster Care Homes and constructed by LNT Care Developments, Somer Valley House provides person centred care for older people within the local area, offering 24-hour residential, dementia and respite care for up to 66 people.

The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) is an independent, impartial network that represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding projects that demonstrate high standards in construction, design innovation, sustainability, and partnership working.

Designed with the intent of promoting comfort, independence, and well-being, Somer Valley House offers en-suite bedrooms, communal lounges, landscaped gardens, a cinema, and a beauty salon.

Nominations intend to recognise a building's outstanding architectural and technical achievement, as well as the collaborative approach taken throughout the design and construction process.

Tim Buckley, CEO at Oyster Care Homes, said: “We’re thrilled that Somer Valley House has been recognised by the LABC for its exceptional build quality and design.”

“This nomination is a reflection of our commitment to delivering homes where residents not only receive the care they need but also thrive in a welcoming, supportive home.”

George Crockford, construction director at LNT, said” “We are proud to have partnered with Oyster Care Homes to deliver a care home that meets the highest standards of both form and function.

“This recognition by the LABC highlights what’s possible when design innovation and care-driven vision come together.”
