The celebrations began on Wednesday, 6th April, with a church service at St Nicholas Church, Radstock, with many members and guests attending, after which, a Rowan Tree was planted by the Radstock War Memorial in the Miner’s Garden.
The tree was planted by West of England Mayor, Dan Norris, watched by guests and Legion members, including the Somerset Royal British Legion’s County Chairman, Major Robert McDonald.
After these events, a reception was held at the Radstock Museum, giving everyone a chance to warm up after a very cold tree plant!
The Midsomer Norton and Radstock Royal British Legion wish to thank a number of people who helped to make things go smoothly on the day, including Sean Fletcher (Radstock Council Gardener), The Rev. Ian Rowsell (St Nicholas Church) and Lucy and Jeanette at Radstock Museum for dishing up copious amounts of tea and coffee and finally Docky’s for their delicious buffet.
