On Saturday, residents in Peasedown St John are being invited to take part in a community clean-up.
During the summer, local councillors, Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan, launched a new monthly clean-up scheme where they invite villagers to join them on the first Saturday of the month to give a chosen street a tidy up.
Cllr Karen Walker (Independent) said: “Sarah and I both believe very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in our village.
Over the last few months, residents have contacted us about the excess amount of litter in and around the village and asked if we could do anything to help.”
The next clean-up will be held on Saturday, 2nd September at 11.30 a.m. in Eckweek Gardens, Eckweek Road and Gordon Road.
Anyone who would like to come should bring gloves and any protective clothing they may want to wear. Litter pickers and rubbish sacks will be provided. The councillors will publicise monthly where each clean-up will take place, by delivering letters to homes.
