Peasedown St John’s Community Library will be re-opening on Monday, 7th December, following an extended closure this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The B&NES Council service will be following strict Government guidelines on social distancing, hand washing and other Covid-secure measures.
Library Operations Manager, Cllr Karen Walker, said: “It’s great to be re-opening our doors again after an eight-month closure. Little did we know that when we closed back in March, it would be nearly Christmas before we welcomed service users back again!
“Due to the need to keep our volunteers and members of the public safe, we are offering a limited service. There will be no laptops available for public use and we’ll be limiting the number of people that can be in the library at any one time.
“Primarily, we’ll be offering a click and collect service – so books ordered in advance can be collected from us, plus returned too.”
From Monday 7th December, library visitors will need to:
• Wear a mask when in the library.
• Sanitize their hands when entering the library, before touching any books and upon leaving.
• Either scan the QR code (on display in the Library) into the NHS Track and Trace App OR leave their details, manually, with one of the volunteers (for track and trace).
• Place any returned books in the library quarantine box. They will stay there for 72 hours.
Peasedown Community Library is part of the Peasedown Community Trust, which runs several projects in the village. Trust Chairman, Gavin Heathcote, added: “Peasedown Library is part of the Libraries West consortium, which means that if you take a book out from us you can return it to any library across the South West of England, and vice versa.”
Peasedown Community Library will re-open at its new home at The Hive Community Centre (formerly the Youth Centre), Bath Road, Peasedown St John, BA2 8DH on Monday, 7th December. Opening days are Mondays, 12 pm – 2 pm, and Saturdays, 10 am – 12 pm. For more information email: [email protected] or visit: facebook.com/PSJCommunityLibrary
