There may be two types of us trying to survive Lockdown 3. On the one hand, you may be in agony finding it hard to climb the stairs and never want to do another PE with Joe Wicks ever again, or, in protest, you may have been defiantly led on your sofa in your pyjamas eating takeaway throughout the whole thing. Whatever your

coping strategy, spare a thought for the employees of a company based at Bath Business Park, in Peasedown St John, who are embarking on a 35-day fitness challenge.

From 1st February, the team at Datasharp Integrated Communications began a challenge to complete at least 35 minutes of fitness activity every day for 35 days.

Their Lockdown 3 challenge will aim to raise a huge £35,000 in sponsorship which will go to Bath-based charity, Developing Health and Independence (DHI), to buy a new liver scanner for the drop-in treatment centre at St James Parade in the city.

The scanner offers a quick and non-intrusive method to assess alcohol-related and Hepatitis C liver damage, with the charity then working with those identified to make lifestyle changes and hopefully end or reduce further damage.

The team at Datasharp are off to a strong start and have raised £5,000 so far. You can see what they are up to with their daily activities, such as walking, running, cycling, workouts and yoga by following the company’s social media channels using the hashtag #35x35

DHI tackles the causes and consequences of social exclusion and aims to turn lives around. They address the immediate needs of adults and young people and assist with homelessness, poverty and drug addiction. As well as helping the initial situation, they will address root causes, working with the individual for long-term change.

A spokesperson for Datasharp Integrated Communications told The Journal why they had chosen to support the charity: “Developing Health & Independence is a fantastic charity dealing with homelessness, substance abuse and social exclusion in Bath and across our region.

“We’ve been supporting them for over a year now. They do vital work and sadly, need our support now more than ever, due to the impact of lockdowns on people’s health and mental wellbeing.”

Datasharp Integrated Communications is an award-winning, leading supplier of voice, data, mobile, video, network security, contact centre and collaboration technology.
