Ted Lambert and Rory Davis, with their letters from the Queen.
Ted Lambert and Rory Davis, both in Reception Year at Kilmersdon Church of England Primary School, have received letters from Buckingham Palace after sending a birthday card to the Queen.
The pair had been learning about the Queen and the National Anthem recently and when they heard it was going to be the Queen's Birthday, they each made Her Majesty a birthday card.
The time and effort they took in making the cards made Headteacher, Beth Hopkin, feel that they really should be posted to Buckingham Palace – which is exactly what the school did.
On Thursday, 21st May, a very official-looking envelope arrived at the school with Rory and Ted's name on it with the Buckingham Palace seal. The envelope was opened in front of their classmates who all sat in perfect anticipated silence!
The boys had received individual letters from the Queen's Lady-In-Waiting, explaining that the Queen wanted her to personally thank them for their 'splendid card which you have made for Her Majesty on the occasion of her eighty-ninth birthday.'
The letter went on to say: 'The Queen is most grateful for your good wishes and I am to thank you very much for your kind thought for Her Majesty.' The boys were delighted!
