A Timsbury couple, who have become closely involved with a village in Nepal, have raised £230 from a walk which was followed by dal bhat, a typical Nepalese meal. Steve and Fiona Jordan first heard about Chitepani when they went on a rambling holiday to the Sahara Desert and met the founder of the Trust.
The objectives of the Trust are the advancement of health and education in socially and/or economically disadvantaged communities in Nepal and elsewhere and to promote primary health care, education and development projects to meet the needs of the people in Chitepani and the region.
Mr and Mrs Jordan visited Chitepani in February and worked with the children in the school, taking with them a scrapbook from years 3 and 4 at Midsomer Norton Primary School. They returned with a scrapbook which the Nepalese children had produced. The couple wish to create a link from this area to Chitepani.
They said: "It is a great privilege to be part of the life of the village and our monthly walk was a way to raise money for Chitepani. They are so grateful for any help they receive."
