In July, a Craft Fayre and Fun Day was held at the Somer Centre, Midsomer Norton, in aid of the charity, SANDS.

Organised by Maria Braithwaite, in memory of her son Owen, she felt she needed to raise vital funds for such an important charity.

Arranging the event was not without hitches along the way, however, everything on the day ran smoothly.

Music from local singer, Cliff, turned into a spot of karaoke, with spectators enjoying the refreshments provided by Maria’s family.

The sheer scale and quality of raffle prizes from local businesses helped raise the majority of funds and, although a small turnout, Maria and those that attended raised an impressive £377.80.

Due to summertime commitments of both, it wasn’t until Friday, 7th September that Maria was able to hand over a cheque to Francis from Bath’s branch of SANDS.

Maria would like to thank all who attended and supported this worthwhile charity and a special thank you to all the businesses that kindly donated raffle prizes.
